Xiaoshu Ni is an innovative fashion designer based in New York City. Specializing in textiles and feminine designs, Xiaoshu is influenced by Buddhism and inspired by nature. Imagining the possibility of other futures drives her work. Exploring the way of human being interact with nature and usher garment in a more subtle and inclusive expression of identity is the essential of Xiaoshu’s thinking. The interaction between a garment and the body, the body and nature is the main connection shown in Xiaoshu’s design.
There is something very compelling about these relationships that are both intimate and fluid. A garment is a second layer of skin and through Xiaoshu’s research she studies the space between skin and fabric, body and garment, human and nature.
Xiaoshu studied for her Fine art background in Affiliated hight school of china academy of art before moving to New York to study at Parsons The New School on the BFA Fashion Design.
